Hi All,
I heard we won on Saturday and the meet went smoothly! Thanks to all the coaches and parents who helped that happen...I was a bit worried in the morning but had to focus on getting myself set up for my race on Sunday. I appreciate all who covered my absence
this weekend. :)
this weekend. :)
First, I wanted to let you all know that stroke clinic is ON for this week, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Next week the clinic will change has we head into finals. I'll get back to you on that...
Second, please email me right away if you WILL NOT be at the meet on Wednesday. This is our last meet and the last chance to get your second meet in if you have not done so already. The meet will be at South Hills Country Club. 2655 South Citrus Street, West Covina, CA 91791. Please have all divers there by 12p and all swimmers there between 1-130p. South Hills has a small pool deck, so you may want to arrive early enough to reserve space. As usual, diving will begin promptly at 1p and swim will follow.
Third, Jayme Williams and Natasha Rowan have planned a SUPER fun coach's appreciation party this year...they would like the parents to get involved in this Island themed party...please bring your bathing suits and be prepared for a parent relay and a dad's cannonball contest...I hope that you ALL will participate! :)
Finally, we have a VERY BIG week next week with finals. I will be posting the schedules, directions and guidelines on the board, in addition to attaching them in an email. General Info (see packet in email or bulletin board for specifics):
Parking: Coaches and Pool Chairs will have parking passes, all other families will need to drop of their kids in the drop zone then park in the lot on the south side of 6th ave or on the street on Mills.
Team Areas
The team areas will be set up on the west side of the pool on the soccer field. Parents and coaches are asked to supervise the team areas at all times. Any malicious or unsafe behavior (such as entering an off limits area) may result in immediate expulsion from the swim meet. The track to the east side of the pool is off limits. Please be sure to instruct all swimmers and spectators to stay off the track.
Coaches / Pool Chairs / and Staging Area
Staging will take place outside the gate located at the southeast corner of the pool. Only staging volunteers, coaches, photographer and pool chairs are allowed in the staging area. EVERYONE must wear his or her badge (please). Coaches please make sure you get your swimmers to the staging area at least two events before that child’s race.
Timers:
We will need 5 timers on Saturday for both sessions and 3 timers on Sunday. These are long days so I would like to split the shifts. I will need 10 timers from the 10 & under group and 10 timers from the 11 & older group for Saturday and will need 6 timers on Sunday. Timers have the best seat in the house and an opportunity to be on the pool deck.
*Parents ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE POOL DECK FOR ANY REASON, unless you are a coach, pool chair, photographer or timer. You will receive passes from me by Friday.
*FHCC will have a designated team area with 2 large industrial fans to keep cool. You are more than welcome to set up around the team area.
*ALL PARENTS: We need your help getting your kids to the staging area. The coaches will be running around on the pool deck, coaching our kids. Please purchase a program and help us on the outside, so that we can prepare your kids for their race. If we are too busy running around looking for a swimmer, we will miss other swim events. We would appreciate ALL of your help. We will gather the relays, as those are a bit more difficult.
Lastly, we will be completing our seeding by this Thursday or Friday, as it is due on Saturday morning. We are carefully seeding the meet so that your swimmer has the best chance at coming back to finals in their events, this may not be their favorite race, however they may not make it back to finals in their favorite race.
Also, I believe relays will only be swum on Sunday for finals, I will be putting together the fastest combination of kids that I can for each relay. We can only enter ONE relay per age group per relay event.
The rest of the important information is in the packets that I'm sending in an email. Please read through carefully.
Thanks and I am really looking forward to our last 2 weeks of swim season!!
